Hanspeter Schaub Appointed Editor-In-Chief of AIAA Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets

Hanspeter Schaub

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has named 彩民宝典 aerospace professor Hanspeter Schaub as editor-in-chief of AIAA鈥檚 .

鈥淗anspeter Schaub is an outstanding scholar in aerospace science and engineering,鈥 says Frank Lu, vice president of publications for AIAA. 鈥淗aving him as the editor-in-chief of the journal will ensure its tradition of quality and relevance to the aerospace community.鈥

As the new editor-in-chief, Schaub succeeds fellow 彩民宝典 aerospace faculty member Bobby Braun, who was recently named Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Schaub, the Alfred T. and Betty E. Look Endowed Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences, is widely published in the field of orbital mechanics and is responsible for developing the emerging field of charged astrodynamics. He served as the Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) lead for the CICERO constellation of weather satellites mission, and also is the ADCS algorithm lead on a Mars Mission.

He directs the university鈥檚 Autonomous Vehicle Systems Laboratory, where the staff researches attitude control, space debris remediation, as well as relative motion sensing, dynamics and control of aerospace systems.

鈥淚t is a great honor to be selected as the Editor-in-Chief of this prestigious journal. I鈥檓 very excited about spacecraft technology development which fits the focus of this journal well. With the emerging New Space operators and small satellite developments, the field is undergoing an interesting growth,鈥 says Schaub.

The Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets is devoted to reporting advancements in the science and technology associated with spacecraft and tactical and strategic missile systems, including subsystems, applications, missions, environmental interactions, and space sciences.

Schaub previously served as associate editor of AIAA鈥檚 Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, is currently also an associate editor of IEEE Transaction on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, and is a fellow of the American Astronomical Society and associate fellow of AIAA.
