Chris Hammons Receives aÌýKayden Research AwardÌý& a Center for Humanities & the Arts Small Grant
Professor Chris Hammons has received not one, but two awards for his work: (1) aÌýKayden Research AwardÌýforÌýAmerican Refuge, a documentary feature about trauma and time in the upland forests of the American West. The award covers the costs to finish film, which will premiere this year.
And (2) aÌýCenter for Humanities & the Arts Small GrantÌýforÌýMauna Kea: Where Sky and Land Meet, an immersive documentary about indigenous activism, state power, and technoscience on Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The grant covers development of the project, which uses state-of-the-art media designed to be projected in planetariums, IMAX theaters, and virtual reality (VR).Ìý
