Process

Recruitment Authorization 

  • Once the dean of division approves a request to recruit, the director of faculty affairs will secure campus-level approvals. 
  • Once campus-level approvals are secured, CAS faculty notifies units with status of approval with instructions to submit the Recruiting Authorization and CAS Faculty Affairs Advertisement Template
    • Position numbers are created by CAS Faculty Affairs. 
    • CAS Faculty Affairs routes final RAF and submits to all necessary approvers with copy to: 
      • Dean of division 
      • Budget Office 
      • Unit 
      • Assistant dean of infrastructure 

Search Committee 

  • Unit forms a search committee. 
  • All search committee fembers and unit program coordinator to take/refresh the following trainings: 
    •  

Job Posting / Advertisement 

  • Unit submits draft CAS Faculty Affairs Advertisement Template to CAS Faculty Affairs. Ad template will be reviewed by CAS Faculty Affairs coordinator, and sent to respective divisional or associate dean for review.  
    • CAS Faculty Affairs sends ad template to College of Arts and Sciences Office of Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) for review.  
    • Faculty Affairs coordinator sends ad template to International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) (ISSS@colorado.edu), if expecting international candidates in a permanent position. 
    • Faculty Affairs coordinator shares ISSS and JEDI approved ad with the appropriate approvers for review.  
  • Once approved, the CAS Faculty Affairs notifies unit of approval status, and proceeds with posting ad template to the applicant tracking system (Avature). 
    • Once posted to Avature, the job ad will go through an approval process by our recruitment coordinator team, College of Arts and Sciences director of faculty affairs and the respective search committee chair. 
    • Once approved, the job ad will be active on the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä jobs board. At this time, the unit will be assigned a recruitment coordinator to assist them with the search process and any changes they wish to make to their job ad. 

Search and Selection of Finalists 

  • Search committee conducts the search and selects finalists (generally the top three candidates from the pool of applicants) and submits the following to the dean of division for approval of on-campus interview for each finalist: 
    • CV 
    • Three letters of recommendation 
    • Research and teaching statements 
      • Finalists interviewed by dean of division 
    • Top finalist identified by search committee and terms of offer discussed between dean of division and chair/director. 

Offer Letter 

Dispositioning of Candidates and Posting Closing in ²ÊÃñ±¦µä Jobs (Avature) 

  • In compliance with the , it is critical that all candidates are dispositioned correctly in ²ÊÃñ±¦µä Jobs (Avature). 
    • Unit will be sent a pre-populated spreadsheet with the names of candidates requiring disposition, along with instructions from the recruitment coordinator. 
    • Unit works with assigned recruitment coordinator to close the posting in ²ÊÃñ±¦µä Jobs (Avature). 
      • Note: It is important for the unit to inform the recruitment coordinator of the final candidate to ensure that Background Check is conduced and personal information is collected.
