Working Goal
In light of the Equal Pay Act coming into effect on January 1, 2021, the Arts and Sciences Dean’s Staff Advisory Committee (SAC) established a subcommittee to follow progress on implementation of this policy at the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä and in the College of Arts and Sciences. The subcommittee was formed in fall 2019 and is continuing its work this year. We have been in communication with Assistant Dean of Administration Bernadette Stewart and Director of Personnel Shelly Hammonds as well as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Compensation and Talent Acquisition Kym Calvo, who are leading this initiative.

²ÊÃñ±¦µä will create a campus-wide strategy for compensation and hiring, and review positions that perform substantially similar work. This includes a new compensation framework for all staff types as well as a standardized merit allocation process for university staff (see the merit increases section of staff compensation, then scroll down for the classified staff merit process).
Campus HR is creating a compensation framework along with defining job codes to accompany pay ranges for all staff position types. (These will be publicly posted online.) The goal is for positions to be aligned with this new structure.
Campus HR will finalize the compensation framework, review pay alignment and identify issue areas by the end of 2020. Based on this, they will bring recommendations to campus leadership and the budget office, as well as develop a funding plan and implementation timeline. Finally, they will communicate and implement those plans.
