Layne Hubbard
PhD, Computer Science, Cognitive Science and Neuroscience '21

Layne Hubbard taught preschool for four years, and she noticed that the children she taught were all going through some form of transition or trauma, whether it be losing a family member or learning English. Because of her experiences she began thinking about ways in which our cultural habits could adopt supportive patterns thatenable children to retain their strength of self through difficult timesand ensure that their passion and confidence come through on theother side. These ideas inspired Layne to attend 񱦵 for her undergraduate education, where she did research in the neuroscience, cognitive scienceand computer science departments, creating computational models of the mind. She graduated with a BS in computer science and now is continuing hergraduate studies in computer science at 񱦵.
