Tokyo Global Gateway (TGG)

TGG, the first of its kind in Tokyo, is a large-scale English language experience facility located on Tokyo bay. Since its opening in September 2018, TGG has accommodated learners from Tokyo and all over Japan. TGG is also accessible to overseas visitors. The main users of this facility range in age from elementary school children to senior high school students; however TGG has also seen adults from universities and private clients. The facility provides students with various programs, including simulated experiences of speaking English in daily life situations overseas in such places as airports and restaurants. The facility also includes programs dealing with science and technology, business, international contribution and international exchange, where students discuss in English how to work out solutions or new ideas through group work. 

The largest department within TGG is the ES Department. This department contains approximately 250 full time and part time international teaching staff. The ES Department’s primary duties include teaching classes (Specialist), conducting role-plays (Clerk), guiding and assisting learners through TGG’s various programs, offering advice and support to learners and creating a fun and enjoyable experience (AGENT). Along with all of the above duties, full time ES staff are also tasked with assisting in daily management and supervision, program and curriculum development and materials upkeep.  

Job Description and Responsibilities: 
Two positions available. Interns will be trained to experience and participate in the full range of activities within the ES department including:
Attached to a member of staff
Reps: learn and assist in daily management of ES teachers; conduct pre and post staff meetings; supervise daily operations
Specialist (Teacher): assist in the classroom; assist in curriculum upkeep
Independent 
AGENT / Clerk: guide learners through the daily programs; participate in role-plays; provide language support and scaffolding for communication; support and encourage learners
Other
There will also be opportunities to analyze and contribute to the improvement of TGG systems.

Eligibility Requirements
•    Must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by start of internship.
•    Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
•    Fluent English speaker.
•    Team oriented.
•    Fun, friendly, outgoing, flexible and responsible.
•    Desire to learn and try new activities.
•    Have an interest in working in an international environment.
•    Japanese language not necessary.

Work Hours    
6 hours per day between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.  Includes 3-4 interaction hours plus 2-3 administrative/report writing hours. One 7-hour training day in advance of first interaction as an AGENT or Clerk. Possible work on weekends as well.
