Founded in 1988, the Center for British & Irish Studies at the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä promotes research and teaching in all aspects of British and Irish history, geography, society, and culture across the humanities and the arts, the social sciences, and the professional schools.
The Center’s purview includes all the constituent parts of the British Isles from prehistoric times to the present, their relationships with each other and other parts of the world, and the British Empire and its legacy.Ìý
The Center administers an undergraduate Certificate in British & Irish Studies. It offers competitive fellowships to graduate students who present conference papers or pursue research in British and Irish studies anywhere in the world. It hosts academic events, such as talks, conferences, and concerts and partners with faculty, students, and staff who organize academic events that focus onÌýBritish and Irish studies.
