±ő˛ÔĚýGina Meagher’s (MCDBio’80) book There Is Something about Gina — Flourishing with Diabetes and Celiac Disease, she shares her journey with two chronic conditions. She writes both have been challenging and frustrating but also educational and, over time, she has learned to flourish. Published last February, her book is the result of her desire to share her experiences for the benefit of others who may be struggling with diabetes, celiac disease or other conditions. She lives in Golden, Colo.

Janet represents institutional leaders, commercial property owners and developers and tenants in a variety of real estate matters. Her focus is in such areas as commercial loan transactions, foreclosure, actions, lease agreements and the ownership, sale and encumbrance of real property. Janet lives in Aurora, Colo.

On July 3 Tim Roessler (Jour’82) and his wife Tanya Roessler celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to Paris. The couple met on a blind date at the Broker Inn. Tim is a writer and content strategist. They have two children and enjoy hiking, hunting for wild mushrooms, reading, making short films, traveling and attending their son’s concerts and their daughter’s art openings.

In Whitefish, Mont., Kylanne Sandelin (Art’83) and her husband own and operate Great Northern Powder Guides, the state’s only snowcat skiing operation. Their experienced guides take groups of up to 14 for backcountry powder skiing and snowboarding. The couple has been married for 27 years and has two sons.

łŐ±đłŮ±đ°ů˛ą˛ÔĚýRichard Tremaine (Psych’83) is an associate director of Veteran Affairs Health Care System in New England. His son, Harrison Tremaine, is a freshman at CU-Boulder. Richard was featured in the September 2004 issue of the Coloradan about the outstanding care the Department of Veterans Affairs provided three Iraq Freedom veterans who had lost their limbs in combat.

At the National Museum of the Marine Corps last January, Lt. Col. Dale Bain* (Ling’84) retired from the Marine Corps Reserve in a ceremony presided over by Maj. Gen. Joseph Osterman (EPOBio’82). On hand were CU-Boulder alumni Col. Michael Bohn (Hist’80) and his wife Janet Hauck Bohn (Art’80), Lt. Col. Matthew Kelly (PolSci’83) and his wife Rebecca Baxter KellyĚý(ł§±č˛ą˛Ô’84),ĚýBrian Lawler (PolSci’84) and Capt. Michael Selby (PolSci’85). Also in attendance were Dale’s parents, his wife Sue, their son and three daughters. Sue is a former member of the CU-Boulder athletic department staff. They live in Fredericksburg, Va.

“Multicultural Percussion Music,” an article written by Geary Larrick (DMus’84), was published in the spring 2013 National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors (NACWPI) Journal. Since 1968 he has written 80 articles and reviews for the journal, which can be found in the periodicals collection in the University of Colorado Music Library. Geary is a retired assistant professor of music at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Navy Captain Steve Koehler (Phys’86) took command of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, a nuclear aircraft carrier, in July. He is believed to be the first CU-Boulder alum to take command of a nuclear aircraft carrier, writes Kieran Purcell(Mktg’85). Steve lives in Virginia Beach, Va.

Principal of Meyer and Associates at RE/MAX Alliance in Fort Collins, Colo., Jeanette Meyer (MBA’87) received the Quality Service Certified Platinum award. This award is the highest level of service achievement in the real estate industry and recognizes Jeanette for earning 100 percent client service satisfaction in 2012, as measured by Leading Research Corp. This is the sixth consecutive year Jeanette has received the award. She lives in Windsor, Colo.

Last summer Rob Bates (InfSys’88) trained to fly the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. After serving 22 years in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves, Rob flies full time as a first officer with United Airlines. United initially will use the new fuel-efficient 787 on routes to Asia and Africa. Rob and his wife have been married for 18 years, have two children and live in San Diego, Calif.

Penn State University physics professor Kurt Gibble (PhDPhys’90) received the 2013 European Frequency and Time Award for his research on the atomic clocks that keep international time. Kurt began his career as a research associate at Stanford University. He also worked as assistant professor and associate professor at Yale University. Kurt lives in State College, Pa., and joined the Penn State faculty in 2001.

Salsa Crossings by Cindy Garcia (Anth’91) is a book about how Los Angeles salsa clubs are a place where social statuses of gender, race, class, nationality, citizenship and belonging are enacted on and off the dance floor. Cindy is a theatre arts and dance assistant professor at the University of Minnesota.

In June North Star Press published Milissa Nelson’s (Mus’91) first novel Seasons of Raina. The story is about timid ninth-grader Raina whose parents arrange for her to move in with her aunt and uncle in Minnesota. There she embraces change and discovers she is a talented athlete and musician. Milissa grew up in Minnesota and Colorado. At CU-Boulder she played trumpet in the Golden Buffalo Marching Band. She lives in Sartell, Minn.

After graduating from CU-Boulder Richard Byyny (MCDBio’93) received his doctor of medicine at University of Southern California. He is an associate professor of emergency medicine and an emergency medicine physician at Denver Health. His father, Richard L. Byyny, served as CU-Boulder chancellor from 1997-2005. He continues to work on the CU-Boulder campus with the ATLAS Institute, Engineers for Developing Communities, Engineers Without Borders and the Conference on World Affairs.
