  • FINANCE & PERSONNEL

Sam Hubley grew up on a horse farm in the Finger Lakes region of New York and graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Psychology. After a two-year research assistantship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, he joined Dr. Dimidjian’s lab and earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at ²ÊÃñ±¦µä. Following his graduate school training, Sam completed his internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University and subsequently accepted a faculty position at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in the Department of Family Medicine. With joint appointments at the National Mental Health Innovation Center, Kaiser Colorado’s Institute for Health Research, and the Colorado Prevention Center, Sam’s research has focused on developing and evaluating models of integrated behavioral health and primary care, novel delivery methods of evidence-based psychological treatments (Peer Mentoring and Virtual Reality), and population- and art-based approaches to mental health treatment and prevention.

At the Crown Institute, Sam occupies multiple roles. As Director of Finance, Sam helps oversee many business aspects of the Institute and our sponsored research. As an Investigator, he is a core part of the Alma team and is developing a new line of research on social emotional learning using characters/storylines from Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out. As a colleague, Sam is often making metaphors, turning abstract ideas into sketches, and sharing homemade food. When he isn’t working or exploring Colorado with his partner and two young children, you will most likely find Sam playing soccer on the pitch, cooking in the kitchen, or skiing in the backcountry with four-legged friends.
