The great thing about the CU EBIO department is that undergraduates are actually encouraged to do research. Not only are the faculty incredibly supportive, CU funds undergraduate work. Last summer, I got a UROP grant from the university to conduct plant surveys, take soil samples, and learn to analyze them through the Bowman lab. Even if there aren't many classes in your particular area of interest, there are still fabulous opportunities to be had. CU offers only two entomology courses, but I've had a fantastic time curating butterflies in the entomology museum collections (as pictured) and working with fossil insects through the Smith lab.
