Hernandez part of campus COVID-19 Webinar Series
Professor Mark Hernandez will give an overview of the modern methods for determining the identity, distribution, and abundance of the airborne microbes that we encounter indoors and the persistence of airborne viruses such as COVID-19 at noon on Feb. 2 via Zoom as part of a campus webinar series.
Hernandez is the S J Archuleta Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and directs the Environmental Engineering Microbiology and Disinfection Lab at the University of Colorado. His lab focuses on the characterization and control of microbiological air pollution and microbially induced corrosion. It also develops genetic, biochemical and toxicological techniques to assess the efficacy of engineering interventions in sectors of sanitary engineering and industrial hygiene that are relevant to environmental health. There is also a special focus on aerobiology science for wide-area surveillance, indoor cleaning technology and the design of aerosol disinfection systems in the built environment.
