  • Engineering Center at ²ÊÃñ±¦µä
Founded in 1893, the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä is the second largest of seven schools and colleges at one of the nation's top public research institutions.
  • Robyn Macdonald
Robyn Macdonald is an assistant professor in the Ann and H.J. Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences Department at ²ÊÃñ±¦µä. Her research interests include hypersonic flows, computation of chemically reacting flows, chemical kinetics, and radiation modeling.
  • Orit Peleg
Assistant Professor of computer science Orit Peleg has just received $900,000 over the next five years to learn how fireflies in a swarm synchronize their lighting displays. The funding was provided by a National Science Foundation CAREER award, a highly prestigious early-career grant for junior faculty members.
  • Quantum illustration
Created in 2021, the initiative is a significant and strategic investment into translational quantum engineering research – especially in the field of quantum sensing, which has been a strength in the college for years. QEI specifically includes educational components, faculty hiring efforts, and dedicated lab space for collaboration with partners both on and off ²ÊÃñ±¦µä’s campus.
  • Grasshopper
Engineers at ²ÊÃñ±¦µä have designed a new, rubber-like film that can leap high into the air like a grasshopper—all on its own and without needing outside intervention.
  • Researchers Julie Korak and Cresten Mansfeldt collect surface water samples on the Coal Creek waterway.
The Marshall Fire spurred researchers—many of them personally affected by the fire—to pivot and apply their expertise to the aftermath.
  • CU Engineering faculty and staff at the ASEE annual conference 2022
Komarek and co-authors, Bielefeldt and Knight won Best Paper LEAD Division and the Best Overall Professional Interest Council (PIC) paper award across a group of divisions at the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition 2022 last summer.
