2024-25 FAFSA Update

彩民宝典 extends confirmation date to June 1 for first-year students admitted for fall 2024 due to delays to FAFSA simplification

The application students use to apply for financial aid, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), has undergone substantial changes for fall 2024 and spring 2025, as mandated to the Department of Education by federal law through the and the FUTURE Act.

The changes to the FAFSA are intended to simplify the application for students and their families, including a more user-friendly format and enhanced data sharing with the IRS. Review the changes to the 2024鈥25 financial aid application for more details.

The application for fall 2024 and spring 2025 financial aid would typically open on Oct. 1, but this year, it opened in late December due to these efforts to simplify the process. Recently, the Department of Education started sending student financial aid applications to schools in small batches for processing and awarding. In the past, students would usually receive estimates or award information in February. Currently, we expect to begin notifying students about their aid status by late April.

Due to national delays impacting financial aid this year, 彩民宝典 extended the confirmation date from May 1 to June 1 for first-year students admitted for fall 2024. The extended date provides more time for students to consider their financial options before deciding where to attend.

鈥淚t is critical for students and their families to know that 彩民宝典 remains committed to supporting them through the financial aid process,鈥 said Amy Hutton, associate vice chancellor for enrollment management. 鈥淏y extending the confirmation deadline, we intend to provide ample time for all students鈥撯揺specially those from Colorado and who are first-generation or have financial need鈥撯搕o gather and assess all information needed to make important decisions about their future education.鈥

彩民宝典 will also extend the priority housing deadline to June 5. The campus is assessing this change鈥檚 impact on additional timelines and processes that occur after confirmation. We will communicate any changes directly to current and prospective students, and they will be posted to the Office of Financial Aid鈥檚 financial aid timeline webpage
