November 30th 5:30pm-8:30pm Hale 270

A film, a forum. Presented by Dr. Hillary Potter and hosted by the Black Student Alliance and the Department of Ethnic Studies. Join us for a screening of the compelling documentary “Whose Streets?” and a panel of 񱦵 students and racial justice and anti-violence advocates in surrounding communities (and free popcorn & pizza!). “Whose Streets?” is a look at the Ferguson, Missouri, uprising in the wake of Michael Brown's death by a Ferguson police officer. As described by the film makers, "When unarmed teenager Michael Brown is killed by police and left lying in the street for hours, it marks a breaking point for the residents of St. Louis, Missouri. Grief, long-standing racial tensions and renewed anger bring residents together to hold vigil and protest this latest tragedy." The event will allow for the 񱦵 campus and the surrounding communities to come together to address pressing issues of racial tensions and conflict within the criminal legal system and within society at large.
