  • Strategic Communication explores the way in which organizations use advertising, public relations and media design to accomplish their communication goals. Students learn how to generate ideas and solve problems for brands and issues through a design thinking process that is grounded in analytical and creative thought.

  • The Media Production program emphasizes analytical and production skills needed to create cross-platform media. Students are asked to critically analyze existing media and their own work through a variety of theoretical, critical study, and studio classes. Tools utilized include photography, audio/video editing, video production, computational media, open source programming, and emergent technology.

  • The Leadership & Community Engagement major prepares ethical, skilled leaders committed to addressing complex public challenges in our nation and across the world. Through this program, students develop a deep conceptual understanding of theories of leadership, public policy and social change.

  • The Business Minor introduces students to the fundamentals of business through classes in marketing, management, finance and accounting. In addition to these topics, students choose one of the five “track” options in which they’d like to further explore. Options include Innovation, Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Global Business or Real Estate.

  • The Political Science major offers instruction in the scientific study of politics and provides students with the skills necessary for a lifetime of inquiry, engagement and analysis. Courses explore various facets of the political world, including the fields of American government and politics, comparative politics, public policy, political theory, empirical theory and methodology, and international relations.

  • The space minor provides students with an overarching background in all aspects of space. Course topics include space science and exploration; human spaceflight and life sciences; aeronautics and near space; launch and spacecraft systems; climate and environment; space business, policy and politics; and space arts, media and history.

They study how we interact with all things digital, including software, devices and algorithms, and are able to create social and technological solutions that are truly engaging for those who use them, apply those solutions to real problems, and evaluate their effectiveness. Students will build a toolkit integrating design, computation and data analysis

  • The Certificate in Peace, Conflict and Security Studies is designed to help students explore why conflict and violence occur, and to develop practical, nonviolent skills to analyze, intervene and resolve conflicts in their personal life, in their communities and between countries.

  • International affairs majors begin their studies with a survey of the most compelling global issues of the day and then go on to detailed analyses of international relations and economics. Courses also focus on problems of international development, the environment, international economic relations and United States foreign policy.

  • The Data Science Minor provides an introduction to the core concepts and skills of data science in computing, statistics and information science.
