This course explores the development of Italian identity in the 20th and 21st century. Through a series of enjoyable and thought provoking short novels, written by contemporary Italian writers, we will investigate Italian identity through the perspective of childhood, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, in order to offer a complete panorama of the multi-faceted aspects of Italian identity today.
