In trying times like these, can you imagine anything better than sitting in your most comfortable chair, sipping a nice cup of tea and reading a wonderful novel in Italian? I promessi sposi is just that novel, in fact after Dante’s Divine Comedy and Boccaccio’s Decameron it is considered the most important work of Italian literature. It is a true classic one that you can boast about to your Italian friends, because every Italian is familiar with it! Like all true classics, it offers something for everyone. You will even learn about one of the worst pandemics of all times!
Are you ready to immerse yourself in the beautiful lake countryside of Como? Dive into the rich Italian history, understand the secrets of the Italian language, and surrender to a beautiful, classic love story. Together we will laugh at the many parodies that comedians have created through the years and explore the creativity of graphic novel artists who have drawn inspiration from this story. We will also indulge in beautiful music while we watch a very entertaining musical. There are a thousand ways to enjoy this wonderful novel, and in this class we will explore quite a few! Join us for the most exciting reading experience of Spring 2021 and fulfill your Major or Minor literature requirement!
