5 ways to make it through April

As we finish out the rest of the semester remotely here are some things to help you take care of yourself and finish the semester strong.


Attend Wellness Wednesdays online

Need a mid-week break? Join Health Promotion for virtual Wellness Wednesdays throughout April to enjoy activities like mindfulness, self-care planning, mindful eating and finals prep. Events are open to undergrad and grad students.

Stay active

The Rec Center recently released a number of free full-length online fitness classes! Join your favorite instructors for new virtual workouts every week.Classes are open to everyone, no Rec membership required. Sessions include mindfulness exercises, stretching routines and some of our top fitness classes. Choose your next workout online through the Rec Center website.


Get some fresh air

While Colorado and many other states are currently under strict , you are still allowed to exercise outdoors. Schedule time to get outside, enjoy the fresh air and soak up some vitamin D. Just remember if you choose to get your physical activity outdoors during this time, you must practice social distancing (staying 6 feet or more from those around you) and stick to local areas whenever possible to limit non-essential travel. Even taking a quick walk around the block can be a great way to improve your mood, stress levels, motivation and overall well-being. 


Take a mental break

Not everything you do has to be directly related to school or a side hustle 24/7. Make time to get back into your hobbies, whether it’s reading, drawing, dancing, playing games, making music or watching your favorite shows. Looking for a new hobby? Talk to someone

While we remain physically distant from one another, it’s important to keep our social connections strong. Reach out to the people you care about, even if you’ve lost connection with them in the past. Now is a great time to check in, catch up and talk through the ups and downs. Remember that we are all experiencing the same things and you’re not alone in this. 

If you or a friend is struggling, it’s okay to ask for help. Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) offers free, online appointments for undergrad and grad students. Students commonly work with CAPS to address concerns about stress, sadness, worry, relationships, academic performance, family problems and financial struggles.
