Dr. Zuo received "ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award"

Dr. Zuo received the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE) Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes members who have served ASHRAE faithfully as a member of committees or otherwise have given freely of their time and talent on behalf of the society. ASHRAE president Tim Wentz gave the award in the Plenary Session during its Annual Conference in the Long Beach, CA. Congratulations!

“It is the volunteer effort of people such as Dr. Zuo that allows ASHRAE to contribute technological advances for the benefit of industry and the public. ASHRAE recognizes that employer support makes participation in Society affairs possible,” States a release from ASHRAE. 

Besides advising the ASHRAE University of Miami Student Branch, Zuo also holds officer positions on multiple ASHRAE committees. He is the PI of ASHRAE research project RP-1771 on performing large scale building energy simulation and big data analytics for the development of ASHRAE Building Energy Quotient (bEQ) building energy rating program.

Dr. Zuo’s areas of research include smart and resilient cities, net zero energy buildings and communities, building-to-grid integration, advanced building control, modeling of building energy and control systems. Currently, he supervises undergraduate and graduate students on various projects in the Sustainable Building Systems Laboratory (SBS Lab) with research funded by NSF, DOE, DOD, DHS, ASHRAE and JPMorgan Chase.
