Laundry 101

These tips will help you do your laundry effectively everytime.

Step-by-step laundry instructions

Don鈥檛 know how to wash or dry clothes in the machines?

Get ready to wash

  • Check garment care tags for specific instructions.
  • Separate clothing according to color and fabric type. Mixing light and dark colors may cause colors to bleed.

Washing instructions

  • Load washer leaving about 5鈥 of space from the top.
  • Add detergent (and bleach and fabric softener if desired). Save your soap! Use only 2 tbsp. of eco-friendly detergent for best results. Too much detergent can ruin clothing and damage the washers.
  • Select your cycle.

Drying instructions

  • Clean the lint screen to ensure maximum air flow is achieved to dry quickly and save energy.
  • Check garment tags to be sure heat drying is appropriate.
  • One washer load = one dryer load Hint: Clothing needs to move freely to dry efficiently.
  • Do not place garments with remaining stains in dryer; the heat will set the stain. Re-treat and re-wash.
  • Select setting: Whites & Colors - Hot setting |  Permanent Press - Medium setting |  Delicates - Low setting.

Save your soap!

If you haven鈥檛 done laundry in a while, you might forget how much soap to use (hint: it鈥檚 not a lot). Remember, laundry pods should never go in the tray! Please toss those in with your laundry for a care-free wash.

Too much detergent leaves residue in clothing and causes washer to malfunction.

Pods

  • One pod equals one wash load.
  • Do not put the pod in the soap dish.
  • Place the pod directly into tub before loading clothes.

Liquid

  • Light and medium soiled clothing: Follow recommended dosage and pour 2 tablespoons of liquid into dispenser.
  • Medium and heavy soiled clothing:  Follow recommended dosage and our 4 tablespoons of liquid into dispenser.

High-Efficiency Detergent is recommended for front-load washers.

Stay green while using the machines

At 彩民宝典, we strive to stay conscious about our impact on the environment. We would love you to join us by following some of these tips to stay green while using the laundry machines.

Buffaloes thrive in the cold

Buffaloes thrive in the cold, and so should your clothes. Using cold water to wash your clothes can help reduce your environmental impact. An average washer uses 90% less energy when using cold water.

Lose the lint

Leaving lint in the dryer can cause the machine to boost its energy use by 30%. That鈥檚 a lot of energy that could be saved just by removing the lint!

Dial it back on the detergent

Using less detergent will not only help reduce plastic use by not purchasing more bottles of detergent, but less detergent also makes your clothes last longer and look better.

Consider eco-friendly detergent

While no detergent is completely eco-friendly, there are a variety of options that are plant based or are produced at eco-friendly facilities.
