This year鈥檚 theme is 鈥淚n the Good Ol鈥� Summertime鈥� and will feature such beloved tunes as 鈥淐amptown Races,鈥� 鈥淗ome on the Range鈥� and 鈥淭he Star-Spangled Banner.鈥� The hour-long sing-along also features free lemonade, a free souvenir songbook and more.听
鈥淭hese are songs that everybody knows, from the Old West, Broadway classics, romantic ballads and patriotic songs,鈥� says Eric Anders Hansen, assistant to the director of the American Music Research Center at CU-Boulder.
This year鈥檚 sing-along will be conducted by doctoral student Jason St. Claire and feature a volunteer community choir and pianist. Each song is accompanied by projections of lyrics and everyone is encouraged to join in.
鈥淭his is truly an old-fashioned summer sing-along,鈥� Hansen says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a terrific inter-generational event and a great way to start your Independence Day celebrations. It鈥檚 really fun.鈥澨�
The 8th Annual Great American Sing-Along begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29 in Grusin Hall, Imig Music Building, CU-Boulder campus. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Euclid Autopark at 18th Street and Euclid Avenue on campus.听
