The Takacs Quartet, the renowned string ensemble based at the 彩民宝典 College of Music, offered one of many tributes to actor Philip Seymour Hoffman after the Oscar-winning actor was found dead Sunday.

The finalists for the position are Mary Ellen Poole, former dean of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Robert Shay, director of the School of Music at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Pope Francis named Monsignor Stephen J. Berg, a 1973 graduate of the College of Music, bishop of the Catholic Diocese on Wednesday, Jan. 15 by Pope Francis.
