Professor of Composition Carter Pann (pictured above, center) has released his newest large work鈥斺�淓ight Saxophones鈥濃�攚ith thanks to a grant from the Dr. C.W. Bixler Family Foundation Faculty Initiatives Fund. 鈥淲ithout Bixler support, this huge project would not have seen the light of day,鈥� says Pann. 鈥淢y gratitude is immense!鈥澨�听

鈥淓ight Saxophones鈥� was commissioned in 2021 by the Capitol Quartet and h2 Quartet for a premiere performance at Chicago鈥檚 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. This work, and other works by faculty composers, will be featured on the College of Music鈥檚 on Nov. 5 with Assistant Professor of Saxophone Nathan Mertens鈥� saxophone studio and the ~Nois Saxophone Quartet.
