DTSA 5841 IBM Capstone Project
- Specialization: IBM Applied Data Science Professional Certificate
- Instructor: Ami Gates, Teaching Professor
- Prior knowledge needed:
Students can take this class first in the program if they have completed the entire IBM Applied Data Science Professional Certificate (especially the IBM Capstone course) and be able to recall concepts from the course.
OR:
Current MS-DS students can enroll in this class if they have completed the majority of the core classes in the MS-DS program, specifically the following courses are strongly recommended to have been completed:
Data Mining Pipeline (DTSA 5504, DTSA 5505, and DTSA 5506)
Machine Learning (DTSA 5509, DTSA 5510, and DTSA 5511
Statistical Modeling for Data Science Applications (DTSA 5011, DTSA 5012, and DTSA 5013)
Data Science Foundations: Statistical Inference (DTSA 5001, DTSA 5002, and DTSA 5003)
Data Science Foundations: Data Structure and Algorithms (DTSA 5501, DTSA 5502, and DTSA 5503)
Learning Outcomes
- Validate the completion of the IBM Professional Certificate by uploading a Coursera- approved certificate of completion for the IBM Applied Data Capstone course. Students who have not completed the IBM Applied Data Science Capstone course at the time of enrollment will be manually enrolled in the course within 48 hours of enrollment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of applied data science concepts from the IBM Professional Certificate on Coursera by passing a cumulative assessment which directly tests material presented in the IBM Applied Data Capstone course.
Course Description
The IBM Applied Data Science Professional Certificate on Coursera offers a hands-on opportunity to perform applied data science methods, models, and techniques to a real-world problem.
In collaboration with IBM, the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä is offering graduate-level university credit for those who have completed the Professional Certificate and are enrolled in CU’s Master of Science in Data Science (MS-DS) program.
To receive 1 credit toward their Master of Science in Data Science (MS-DS) program at the University of Colorado, Boulder, students will need to upload their certificate of completion from the IBM Applied Data Science Capstone Course (last course in the specialization) and pass a graded assessment covering the material that was learned in the Capstone Course.
