Richard Border and Matt Keller in the news
CU Psychology and Neuroscience graduate student Richard Border (Behavioral Genetics) and Associate Professor Matt Keller (Behavioral Genetics and Clinical) were in the news, with an article about a recent publication of theirs appearing in The Atlantic as well as an earlier article in ²ÊÃñ±¦µä Today. The research, which was published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, examined existing genetic and survey data from over half a millon people for the presence of candidate genes that are associated with depression. They found that the 18 most studied gene candidates are no more likely to be linked with depression than randomly chosen genes. They also recommended that investigators should stop searching for a single gene or small set of genes that causes depression because it is simply not the case that it or they will be found.
