Tips for Summer Biking
As the weather continues to heat up, you may want to take steps to beat the heat. Here are a few quick tips to keep you calm, cool, and collected on your ride.
- Stay Hydrated: Bring a (reusable) bottle or two of water. Our bodies quickly dehydrate while biking in the summer heat, which can lead to a plethora of negative consequences.
- Wear Sunscreen: Prolonged exposure to the sun’s rays can increase your risk of skin cancer and result in a gnarly sunburn--especially in Colorado. Alternatively, wear clothes that cover your skin without trapping too much heat.
- Bike in the Morning/Evening: If your goal is to avoid the heat altogether, try biking in the mornings and/or evenings. If it’s dark out, don’t forget to bring a bike light!
