Former and current members of the Marder Group organized a symposium entitled "Collaborative Approaches to Advances in Organic and Hybrid Electronics" that brought together a diverse cross section of collaborators and former students and postdocs in celebration of his 60th birthday (postponed from June 2021). With over 80 participants, this conference brought together researchers, collaborators, and ex-group members from across the world.

The aim of this gathering was to provide a forum that brought together a diverse audience to learn about state-of-the-art research in the area of fundamental studies and applications of organic and hybrid materials, inclusive of electronics and optoelectronics broadly defined. The organizers fostered an environment where students and senior researchers had significant periods of time to interact in a casual environment during multiple poster sessions and breaks, providing many opportunities to renew and make new personal contacts and network with folks to form relationships that have the potential to last for the duration of a career.
