Make the most of the Involvement Fair
The event brings representatives from student organizations together for students to explore. The Involvement Fair is Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom and room 235.
Set yourself up for success
Students who are involved on campus have a better sense of belonging and are more likely to persist to graduation. Getting involved isn’t just a way to fill your time. It’s a critical part of your success as a student.
Whether it’s your first year or final year at ²ÊÃñ±¦µä, the Involvement Fair offers all students ways to enhance their college experience. Here are some tips to make the most of the fair, depending on where you are in your student journey.
New Buffs and transfer students
- Check out student organizations and programs that match your interests.
- Visit different booths or tables to talk with representatives and learn about the many involvement opportunities.
- Meet new people.
- Step outside your comfort zone and explore new activities to expand your skills and broaden your interests.
Returning students and graduate students
- Find opportunities to gain professional experience that you could add to your resume.
- Consider programs that can help you gain leadership skills.
- Find something to specialize in or where you excel.
- Join something for fun to meet new people, try something new and balance out your academic life.
Make a plan before you go so you have time to meet and learn about the organizations you are most interested in. Bring your schedule to ensure meeting times don’t overlap with your other commitments. Also, leave time to stop and explore groups and programs not on your list. You may find new and exciting opportunities you didn’t even know existed.
Research
Research before the fair to learn about the organizations and groups attending.
