Students, faculty, staffÌýand administrators who focus on their strengths to achieve well-being andÌýconnectÌýwith one another are more likely to be committed to and proud of the institution. Engaged, healthy students are more likely to remain at ²ÊÃñ±¦µä, graduate in a timely fashionÌýand stay connected with the university as active alumni.

In an effort to increaseÌýwell-being and belonging across campus, the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä provides free professional development using the free StrengthsQuest tool in . Through these trainings, faculty and staff members will gainÌýtheÌýknowledge, skills, and experiences to foster strengths-based conversations.

Interested participants are required to attend Strengths Introduction or another strengths workshop on the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä campusÌýbefore attending other session(s).

All sessions are located in the Center for Community. Within three business days of registering, workshop participantsÌýwill receive an email confirmation with more specific details. If applicable, you will also receive an access code to complete StrengthsFinder 2.0 prior to attending Strengths Introduction.

Strengths Introduction

Leveraging your strengths can have a powerful impact onÌýyour life as you identify, developÌýand apply your innate talents to your personal and professional life. In this session, participants will develop a preliminary understanding of strengths theory and understand how ²ÊÃñ±¦µä integrates strengths into the campus community.

Strengths in Supervision

Learn about the principles of strengths-based leadership to enhance your role as a supervisor for students, staff and/or faculty. In this session, participants will identify how their strengths influence their supervisory practicesÌýand learn strategies to apply strengths-based supervision to direct reports.Ìý

Strengths in 1:1 Conversations

Engaging in a strengths-based conversation can be a powerful way to counsel, adviseÌýand mentor students, staffÌýand faculty. Upon developing an understanding of your strengths, this session will cover best practices for engaging in a one-on-oneÌýconversation with others. You’ll have the opportunity to practice strengths-based conversations and identify opportunities to engage in these conversations with others.

Strengths Facilitation in Groups

Once you have developed knowledge and some experience with strengths, attend this session to learn best practices when facilitating strengths within groups. Upon completing this session, you will have knowledge of facilitation principles and experience facilitating key StrengthsQuest activitiesÌýas well as having identifiedÌýnext steps for your own development and practice.

We will also review best practices when working with pre-existing groups that are interested in utilizing a team talent map. After completing this workshop, you are eligible to earn the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä Strengths Facilitation Certificate.
