Set up your profile
Customizing your profile on Handshake is simple. You can upload your résumé, work samples, transcripts and other coursework documents you want employers to see.
The more information you add to your account, the more employers you will attract. Add your social media accounts, fill out the “get to know me” section and highlight your skills. Be sure to make your profile public so employers can find you.
Discover jobs and internships
Once you’ve set up your profile, your page will be loaded with job and internship opportunities. Begin to search for opportunities by typing in your career interest, then customize your search by adding filters like location, job function or listing specific employers you want to work for.
Save your search terms so your profile populates with positions that you know you’d be interested in. You can also sign up for email notifications for when an employer posts an opportunity that matches with your interests.
Get career tips from employers
Have a question about what it takes to work at Google? Or where to take your sociology degree? Submit your questions on the Q&A section and employers will respond with their industry expertise and career advice. This tool allows students to connect with employers while also getting insider tips for applying for positions you love.
Don’t worry–your questions can be anonymous if you want them to be!

You are now able to read honest feedback on work experiences from your classmates on Handshake. This can help you gain insight into a company’s work culture, mentorship and key takeaways, which is often hard to find through basic internet search.
