During an emergency, CUPD and the university share confirmed, timely and accurate safety information at .Ìý

  • Add your cell phone number to to receive emergency text alerts.
  • Alerts are sent for on-campus emergencies as well as for off-campus incidents that impact areas of high student population.
  • A pilot of an expanded emergency notification area will continue in fall 2023 and will be evaluated annually.Ìý
  • Employees and students with Boulder addresses have been added to Everbridge, the emergency alert messaging system used by Boulder Police, Boulder Fire-Rescue, Boulder County Sheriff’s Department and Longmont Department of Public Safety.

CUPD and Emergency Management offers free in-person active harmer response workshops several times each year, on-demand training resources and site security assessments.

Site security assessment

As a follow-up to this video training, departments can request an in-person site security assessment from Emergency Management who can assist in creating or updating an all-hazards emergency action plan for shared work spaces, including evacuation plans, shelter in place plans and how to maintain the continuity of operations.

Security upgrades

Campus security upgrades are implemented regularly. Upgrades include labeled thumbturn locks on classroom doors, increased signage both inside and outside of classrooms for better location identification and risk mitigation through environmental design.
