Dear Members of the CU Community,
It is my great pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Justin Schwartz as the next chancellor of ²ÊÃñ±¦µä, effective July 1. I am confident he will be a leader who has the skills, experience, enthusiasm and vision to help guide ²ÊÃñ±¦µä into an exciting future.
I received overwhelmingly positive feedback about Justin following his campus visit and open forums with ²ÊÃñ±¦µä faculty, staff and students. He was equally well-received by community members who are critical partners of ²ÊÃñ±¦µä. After reflecting on this input and considering the exceptional attributes Justin brings, I am even more convinced he is the right person for the job.Ìý
I am grateful to everyone who participated in the forums, engaged in the process and offered their feedback. I deeply appreciate the diligence and efforts of the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä Chancellor Search Committee for carefully vetting and interviewing a talented group of candidates. Thanks as well to AGB Search, which did excellent work recruiting an outstanding pool of highly qualified candidates.
Justin is a leader with whom ²ÊÃñ±¦µä’s power and promise resonates. He has a proven commitment to supporting a community that embodies different cultures and perspectives, and he will take our campus to new heights. He blends a strong appreciation for the liberal arts with a deep commitment to our research enterprise. He is committed to building a CU community that reflects the diversity of our great state. And Justin understands and embraces our imperative to meet our mission to serve our students, our state and our society.
I greatly appreciate the ongoing commitment and leadership of Chancellor DiStefano, who has served ²ÊÃñ±¦µä with distinction for 50 years—15 of those as chancellor—and has played an instrumental role in developing its strength and success, upon which Justin will continue to build. Ìý
I look forward to welcoming Justin to the CU community, and I hope you, too, will give him a warm Colorado welcome when he officially joins ²ÊÃñ±¦µä in July.
All the best,
Todd Saliman
