This week has plenty of events celebrating National Volunteer Week and Earth Day, plus: smoothie making, puppy playtime, a self-defense workshop, a 鈥淪pring Romance鈥 musical performance and more.

Monday, April 22

  11 a.m.鈥4 p.m.   Duane Physics and Astrophysics, lawn
Make a pledge to sustainability, followed by a free scoop of ice cream. 

  1:30鈥3:30 p.m.   Henderson Building, BioLounge
In celebration of Earth Day, decorate Earth shaped cookies at the CU Museum of Natural History. Grab a complimentary coffee or tea after decorating your treat.

Customize a smoothie featuring the Environmental Center鈥檚 smoothie bike!

  4鈥6 p.m.   Village Center Wellness
De-stress with puppy playtime at the Village Center wellness space.


Tuesday, April 23

Pick up a free rose in celebration of Catalan Day. 

  6鈥8 p.m.    Biotech Building, Butcher Auditorium (A115)
Assistant Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Sammy Ramsey is giving a talk about bees and parasites this Tuesday. . 

  6鈥7 p.m.    Williams Village, Rec Center
Partake in a free self-defense workshop. Participants will learn about awareness, defense and ways to get out of various situations. 

3 things to check off your to-do list

  • on Monday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the east entrance to Norlin Library. 
  • Drop off used clothes and other items and/or pick up new-to-you items during the Campus Sustainability Summit  event on Wednesday, April 24, at the UMC.
  • Graduating honors students: Your spring 2024  on Friday, April 26, at the Regent Administrative Center, Room 101.

Help raise awareness on sexual assault by wearing denim this Wednesday.

Learn about and celebrate 彩民宝典鈥檚 commitment to sustainability leadership and accomplishments. The event continues on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sigma Psi Zeta is holding a community event dedicated to protesting sexual assault and violence. 


Thursday, April 25

  Noon鈥1 p.m.    C4C S350 
It鈥檚 not always about what you know but who you know. Learn more about networking during this event. 

  1鈥5 p.m.    UMC south terrace 
Help Out Boulder County as they prepare for pride festivities! Volunteers will glue pride flags and assemble information packages. 

  5:30鈥8 p.m.    Rec Center, Outdoor Pursuits Classroom   $10
During this competition, pairs will prepare a dish using basket and pantry items on camp stoves. Who will cook the most delicious meal?

Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity to help homeowners build or improve their future homes with an affordable mortgage.

After a long week, unwind with an outdoor celebration of spring! Events include yard games and volleyball, s'mores roasting and a free cycling class. 

  8鈥10 p.m.    Village Center, Innovation Center (108)
De-stress before finals week with a night of fun stress-relief activities and giveaways. 


Saturday, April 27

  9 a.m.鈥1 p.m.    UMC south terrace 
Harvest of Hope is a food pantry that serves everyone, regardless of their background. This is an opportunity to provide food assistance to others. . 

  11 a.m.鈥3 p.m.    Growing Gardens, corner of Jay Road and 28th Street
Volunteer to prepare the Harvest of All First Nations鈥 plot at Growing Gardens. Participants will also discuss food sovereignty in Colorado and enjoy delicious food.

The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra and violinist Francisco Fullana are performing 鈥淪pring Romance.鈥
