Compliance Week highlight: RIO creating global impact

As students, faculty and employees settle in to the fall semester, it is important for our campus community to be aware of important updates related to maintaining a culture of research excellence, integrity and compliance.
Notable research compliance updates for fall 2024
- 彩民宝典 is committed to ensuring research security, and requires all employees鈥攊ncluding faculty, postdocs and staff鈥攁nd students with responsibility for the purpose, design, conduct or reporting of research to fully disclose information to identify potential conflicts of interest and conflicts of commitment.
- Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Programs: The university is obligated to monitor and regulate participation in certain Foreign Talent Recruitment Programs. Learn more about Foreign Talent Recruitment Program participation.
- Streamlined approval of faculty consulting and outside work: A comprehensive review of 鈥渢he one-sixth rule鈥 at 彩民宝典 identified opportunities to address gaps and improve the process. Learn more about approval of faculty consulting and outside work.
- DEPA reminder: At 彩民宝典, reporting of potential conflicts of interest and commitment, including foreign affiliations, occurs by submitting a Disclosure of External Professional Activities (DEPA). The DEPA must be submitted annually and updates must be made within 30 days of having something new to disclose. Learn more about DEPA.
- Updated IRB guidelines and approach: Informed by valuable input provided by faculty, an Institutional Review Board (IRB) working group developed a plan to improve turnaround times and reduce backlogs. Key updates include streamlining and better defining PI eligibility, improvements to templates and enhancements to the IRB website to improve the user experience and process.
