Madison Sankovitz
Roots
“Roots is a self-portrait that reflects my deep ties to nature throughout my life. I feel the most at home, connected, aware and alive in the outdoors. The Earth has nurtured my growth and given me immense inspiration. This piece also symbolizes how all humans are profoundly connected to the environment. Our roots are in the Earth, and we must protect it in order to flourish as a species.” Student Arts Program official selection 2017. Located on the second floor, near room 245.
About the Artist
Madison is a senior majoring in ecology and evolutionary biology, originally from Colorado and Oregon.
“I love studying biological and environmental science because I get to discover how our amazingly beautiful world works. Additionally, I am a member of CU Bridges to Prosperity, a team that designs and builds suspended pedestrian footbridges in rural communities of Bolivia and Swaziland. Outside of school, I love outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and running. I am a photographer, mainly focusing on landscapes, but I enjoy wildlife and portrait work as well.”
