For the first time ever, over 500 attendees from every region across Africa + Middle East will come together for a trade and investment summit on September 19-23, 2016.
This historic gathering of women-led social enterprises, social impact investors and international buyers will take place in Ifrane, Morocco at Al Akhawayan University.
Sponsored by the Moroccan government, the focuses on collective impact, sustainable trade partnerships, impact investment opportunities, understanding exports and technology for better business and global connection. This expo will also feature 120 companies from more than 25 African countries with a range of hand-made décor, fashion accessories and natural skin care products.
CESR Guest Lecturer Involved in Summit
Stacey Edgar, a frequent guest lecturer at CESR and social entrepreneur, is assisting with the production of the Trade + Impact Summit. Edgar is working to connect them with women’s social enterprises across Africa, recruiting industry buyers from the U.S. to attend, seeking corporate sponsors to help offset the costs of participating African women’s enterprises and seeking speakers to present at the summit.
Edgar is a regular guest speaker in the CESR course Business Solutions for the Developing World and is working to incorporate the Trade + Impact Summit as a powerful research project. Students will develop a survey for buyers and exhibitors on their experience at the event to review the sales after the show and any possible obstacles faced.
