Professional听engineer and certified energy manager听Celeste Cizik (ArchEn- gr鈥�02, MBA鈥�11) joined the Upkeep Energy leadership team. Celeste has experience in mechanical system design and energy efficiency projects in more than 5 million square feet of building area. This will allow the Boulder company to expand its energy efficiency servers to meet the needs of facility owners and operators.

The American Board听of Physical Therapy Specialties awarded Michelle Colman (EPOBio, Kines鈥�02, MPhysThr鈥�05, MD鈥�06) her credentials听as an orthopedic certified specialist.听Michelle received physical therapy degrees from CU鈥檚 Anschutz Medical Campus and is employed by Physiotherapy Associates. She resides and practices in San Diego, Calif.

Iraq War veteran, paratriathlon world champion and Purple Heart recipient听Melissa Hoffman Stockwell听(Comm鈥�02) spoke at the Wounded Warrior fundraiser in Denver in April. Melissa serves as a board member for Wounded Warrior. The organization provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life. She lives in Chicago with her husband听Richard Stockwell听(贰肠辞苍鈥�02).

F-22 pilot Maj.听Brock Lange听(Geog, Astro鈥�02)听is stationed in Hampton, Va., where he flies the U.S. Air Force鈥檚 most sophisticated fighter. His wife Maj.听Rebecca Ernst Lange听(PolSci鈥�00) works as an air intelligence officer in the Air Force. In December Brock was part of a story run in听Airman Magazine,听the official magazine of the U.S. Air Force.

On Sept. 8,听Taylor Schierburg听(Bus, Comm鈥�02) married Ryan Surroz at the Denver Country Club. The couple resides in Washington Park in Denver with their yellow lab, Stryker.

Personal stylist and former Alumni Association student worker听Erin Edwards听(Engl, Jour鈥�02) works for Stella & Dot, a company that specializes in boutique-style jewelry and accessories sold through in-home trunk shows and online. Erin lives in Superior, Colo.

In September听Ashley Jones Baber听(IntPhys, Phil鈥�02) hosted a wedding planning workshop at Swoozie鈥檚 in Cherry Creek, Denver. She had various style vignettes for wedding inspiration and useful takeaway for brides and grooms. She is owner and principal planner of Ashley Baber Weddings and was named 鈥淓ditor鈥檚 Choice鈥� in a 2011 issue of听Bride Magazine.听Ashley resides in Atlanta, Ga.

West Hollywood, Calif., resident听David Caspe听(Art鈥�02) is creator, executive producer and head writer of the hit ABC sitcom听Happy Endings.听The sitcom chronicles the misadventures of six friends in their late 20s and early 30s in Chicago. In its third season听Happy Endings听has earned many awards and positive press.

Former CU football player听Joe Garten听(Soc鈥�02) was part of the 2012 Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Class and received recognition at the ceremony in November. He was one of the first three unanimous All-Americans in CU history and was a consensus first-team All-American as a junior and a two-time unanimous first-team All-Big Eight performer as a junior and senior. Joe was runner-up for the Outland Trophy and holds the school record for the most starts by an offensive player. Joe resides in Yorba Linda, Calif.

Manhattan resident听Graham Meriwether听(Engl鈥�02) is film director of the documentary听American Meat.听The film examines hog, cattle and chicken production in the U.S. Chipotle Mexican Grill, which sources meat from humane and antibiotic-free farms, is a sponsor of the screening series.Steve Ells听(Art鈥�88) is founder of Chipotle and appears in the film.

U.S. paratriathlete听Melissa Hoffman Stockwell听(Comm鈥�02) won a gold medal, helping the Americans win the overall medal count at the ITU Paratriathlon World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand. The paratriathlon was a 300-meter swim, 20K bike and a 5K run which Melissa finished with a time of 1:22:14. This was her third consecutive world title. Melissa lives in Chicago. She lost part of her leg while serving in Iraq in 2004.

Big dreams remained strong for skier听Kelley McMillan听(Anth鈥�02) who took classes, read books, hired guides and trained to ski Wyoming鈥檚 Grand Teton. Kelley was first inspired to climb and ski Grand Teton after seeing a photo of her uncle atop the 13,770-foot peak. According to an April article in听The Denver Post, Kelley and her guide planned to ski the Grand in May and if successful 鈥渋t will be the first female-guided, female-client descent of this ski mountaineering classic.鈥�

On July 7听Scott Sammons听(Mgmt, Thtr鈥�02) will marry Shannon Emery in Longmont, Colo. Scott is a real estate broker.

Future Buffalo Christian Timothy Edstrom was welcomed by parents听Timothy Edstrom听(PolSci鈥�02) and听Christina Zigler Edstrom听(DistSt鈥�03, MComm鈥�06) and big sister Violette in July. The couple met in Farrand Hall in 1999 and hope their children will attend their beloved CU someday. The family lives in Longmont, Colo.

Shanghai, China, is home to听Ryan McMunn听(Mktg鈥�02). He is general manager at Tricam Industries, a company his father started that manufactures household step stools as well as lawn and garden carts. The company supplies The Home Depot, Lowe鈥檚, Menards, Walmart and Costco. Ryan writes he has designed and implemented operating procedures using the knowledge he gained at CU.

Jeff Parker (MAeroEngr鈥�03; PhD鈥�07) and Bradley Cheetham (MAeroEngr鈥�11) co-founded Advanced Space, a startup that develops technology to enable sustainable exploration, development and settlement of space. In 2022, it launched the successful CAPSTONE satellite, which orbits the Moon.
鈥淲e love what we do, and Advanced Space lets us do it,鈥� Parker said. 鈥淲e have fully intended this company to be multigenerational: something that will outlast anyone here. How often do you get the opportunity to help define interplanetary missions, test out new navigation technologies, and inspire engineers all at the same time?鈥�

叠辞耻濒诲别谤鈥檚 Trevor Seelye (Econ鈥�03) and Elizabeth Seelye (Jour鈥�02) are co-owners of Independent Power, which specializes in helping customers build plans to transition their homes, businesses and vehicles to operate with clean energy. In addition to solar and electrification projects in Boulder, Denver, the Front Range and Bozeman, Montana, Independent Power has also built solar, storage, wind and hybrid systems in Rocky Mountain National Park and at military bases in the Indian Ocean.

After starting听as an intern听for the City of Boulder听in 2001,听Cris Jones听(EnvDes鈥�03) is now听director of community听vitality for the city. Cris听intends to use his experience in this new role to听lead the advancement of听the department in support of cultural vibrancy,听district vitality and听access for all throughout the city and within听叠辞耻濒诲别谤鈥檚 key economic centers. Cris also听serves as the ex-officio听executive director of the Downtown Boulder District, University Hill General Improvement District and Boulder Junction Access General Improvement District.听

Since 2014,听Matt听Seefeldt听(MChemEn-gr鈥�03; PhD鈥�04) has served听as executive director of听the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility (GBF), a听research organization听advancing cell and gene听therapy research. After听graduating from CU,听Matt later returned to听work at the CU Anschutz听Medical campus to help听develop protein and cell听biological therapies. In听June 2023, he gave a tour听of GBF to Senator and听former Colorado Gov.听John Hickenlooper and听Federal Drug Administration Commissioner听Robert Califf. Matt also is听cited as a world expert in听protein refolding.听

Multimedia marketing and engagement expert Jessica Kizorek (Span鈥�03) has developed an international presence as a video storyteller, entrepreneur and activist. Working primarily with large nonprofits 鈥� including the AARP Foundation and Special Olympics 鈥� through her company Two Parrot Productions, she has created hundreds of short films and video-centric fundraising campaigns. She has covered a multitude of humanitarian causes as a journalist and documentarian in over 60 countries. Jessica is also passionate about empowering female entrepreneurs through her organization, Badass Businesswomen. A published author, Jessica has 10 books to her name and has appeared on major news outlets such as Fox, NBC, CNN, Weekend Today and the Better Show. After obtaining her master鈥檚 degree from Florida International University, she is now pursuing a doctorate degree in business administration.
