Completed in 2012, the JSCBB houses faculty, staff and students from the BioFrontiers Institute, the Chemical and Biological Engineering and the department of Biochemistry to meet the research and instruction needs of campus.ÌýThe JSCBB department oversees the operational, service, and maintenance needs of the Biotech Building. The Assistant to the Director (Building Services Manager) is a member of this department and plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the JSCBB.ÌýThe Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building (JSCBB) is seeking qualified candidates for their Assistant to the Director position to balance a wide variety of daily operational needs of the department. Key ResponsibilitiesÌý

Event Management and Scheduling

  • Schedule JSCBB facilities for academic classes in coordination primarily with Departments of Biochemistry and Chemical & Biological Engineering.Ìý
  • Ensure that requests for classrooms are appropriate for room size and equipment available, e.g. IT infrastructure, chairs, whiteboards, etc.Ìý
  • Coordinate, schedule and manage all activities with potential clients for use of JSCBB facilities. Serve as the main point of contact for rental clients, which can include university departments/groups located internally or externally of JSCBB, and community users.Ìý

Budget, Procurement, Administrative and Financial Activities

  • Oversee JSCBB financial operations, including associated budgets and related accounting responsibilities.Ìý
  • Build invoices and process payments per applicable CU policies.
  • Reconcile discrepancies and track financial activities. Requires use of Concur, Cognos and PeopleSoft Finance.Ìý

Access and Building SecurityÌý

  • Receive and conduct requests for JSCBB access from authorized requestors in JSCBB departments.Ìý

JSCBB Human ResourcesÌý

  • Handle personnel actions in HRMS as needed for JSCBB employees.Ìý

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or Finance.

What You Will Need

  • Organization, customer service, and attention to detail skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable state, university and campus policies and procedures as they relate to job duties is highly desirable.Ìý

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Three to five years of experience in a university environment and familiarity with University of Colorado operating systems, including Concur, HRMS, Finance, Marketplace and Cognos.Ìý
  • One year in event planning and management is also highly desirable, as well as previous supervisory experience.
