Sydney Eiss is an undergraduate student studying environmental engineering at the 񱦵 with a passion for global development and climate change work. During her degree, she assisted civil engineering doctoral student Shaye Palagi as a DLA on her research in decision making processes during post disaster relocation. During this time, she wrote a paper, “” that won the Natural Hazards Center Student Paper Competition in 2018. She now works as an Undergraduate Research Assistant Intern at the Natural Hazards Center.She is an active member of Engineers Without Borders Nepal and has co-led a design team to create a menstrual hygiene management friendly latrine to help girls feel more comfortable at school. When not studying, Sydney loves to spend time in the mountains hiking or in coffee shops writing novels.
