Thank you for your interest in the CU Social Neuroscience Lab. The success of the lab depends on the involvement of dedicated undergraduate and graduate students. Getting involved with research as an undergraduate is a great way to learn more about psychology and get hands-on experience. Research experience is particularly valuable for students considering going on to graduate school.

Undergraduate research assistants in our lab work closely with other members of the lab on one or more on-going projects. Your involvement may include the collection of physiological data, giving you the opportunity to learn how to attach electrodes and record brain waves. Research assistants might also help with data entry and scoring, preparation of materials for new experiments, and the performance of literature searches.

Positions in the lab are currently all voluntary. Independent study credit is available.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3.00 GPA preferred
  • Psychology major preferred
  • Because there is extensive training involved, we ask you to commit to work in the lab for 1 year, for approximately 9 hours/week. We arrange the schedule around your class schedule.
  • Interest in social psychology and/or neuroscience (not clinical psych, cognitive psych, or some other area; if your interests are in another topic of psychology, it is better for you to find a position in a lab that studies that topic)

If you are interested in getting involved in the lab, please contact Professor Ito to arrange an interview via e-mail. Please include your GPA, research and career interests, and prior psych courses.
