Getting Started

Congratulations! You are teaching a course at ²ÊÃñ±¦µä and you will have a Canvas course shell for your face-to-face, remote, hybrid or online course.  Where do you start?

  • Check with your department or program for information that is specific to your course and program.
  • Do you have your CU credentials?  (Your and your ²ÊÃñ±¦µä email)
  •  If you have issues requesting your Canvas course shell, contact  
  • If you want assistance getting content into your Canvas course, the LDG tutorials have information or you could contact the LDG team or schedule a consultation meeting. Information is available on the Get Help page.
  • Students will have access to your Canvas course shells two days before your Fall and Spring courses officially open and four days before your Summer courses officially open.   

Wrapping up Your Course and Submitting Grades

You're almost done with your semester!  The following information will help you take the last steps including submitting your grades through the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä web grading system.  

Adding a Canvas Column to Adjust Final Student Grades

You have the option of adjusting your students' final grades in the Canvas grade book by using the Final Grade Override column in the Canvas grade book.

Student Access to Canvas

  • Students will have access to their Canvas course shells for three weeks after the course officially ends.

Final Grade Information

  • Students often check the Canvas grade book for their final grades.  Instructors should have the final grade in the Canvas grade book along with submitting final grades to the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä grading system.
  • University policy requires grades are entered into the web grading system no later than 90 hours after the course officially ends.
