How often will I meet with my mentor?

We recommend meeting with your mentor 2-3 times over the course of the semester. These meetings can be scheduled based on your and your mentor’s availability and can take place virtually, over the phone, or in person. Meetings are scheduled by the mentee and mentors - the AMP team does not schedule your meetings for you.

What if I’m not sure what to talk about with my mentor?

It's normal to feel uncertain at first. You can start by discussing your career interests, goals, and any questions you have about your field of interest. Use the PLC AMP Connection Roadmap as a guide to help structure your conversations and get the most out of your meetings. Also, be honest with your mentor about your anxieties surrounding the conversation - that's what they're here for!

What if I have difficulty reaching my mentor?

If you’re having trouble getting in touch with your mentor, try sending a polite follow-up email or message. If you still encounter difficulties, please contact Lia at lia.dino@colorado.edu for assistance in re-establishing contact.

Can I continue the mentorship beyond one semester?

Yes! If you and your mentor both wish to continue your relationship beyond the semester, you are welcome to do so informally. However, each semester involves a new matching process, so you will also have the option to be matched with different alumni in the future.

What should I do if the match isn’t working out?

If you feel that the connection with your mentor isn’t aligning with your expectations, please reach out to Lia at lia.dino@colorado.edu. We can discuss the situation and explore options to ensure a positive experience for you.

What is expected of me as a mentee?

As a mentee, you’re expected to take initiative in communicating with your mentor, be open to feedback, and actively participate in your meetings. Review the Expectations Agreement to understand the full scope of your responsibilities in this program.

Are there resources available to help me throughout the program?

Yes! The Mentee Resource Kit includes helpful materials such as the Connection RoadmapÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýExample Intro Email. These resources are designed to support you and help you make the most of your mentorship experience.

Who should I contact if I have more questions or need support?
