Community Outreach

The ²ÊÃñ±¦µä Police Department is always looking for opportunities to connect on a personal level with our community. Currently, we do this through our ride along program, coffee with a cop, patch requests and our outreach programs.

CUPD Community Safety Officials and Residential Service Officers regularly engage with students in activities like midnight pancake breakfasts in the residence halls, friendly games of cricket, book clubs, international coffee hour and much more.

We also partner with organizations on campus such as CU Student Government, ²ÊÃñ±¦µä Hillel and the Center for African and African American Studies to provide safety education and resources while building strong relationships and providing positive ways for the university and wider community to engage with the police department.

In the city of Boulder, we regularly contribute to discussions and activities as members of the Hill Revitalization Working Group.

You can also find us delivering safety presentations to new students and their families as we welcome them to campus and to Boulder.  If you would like to invite us to your next community event, let us know! Please call 303-492-6666.

Patch Requests
The University of Colorado Police Department (CUPD) receives numerous requests for CUPD uniform patches from the public, collectors and law enforcement agencies. Due to security concerns, we are unable to provide patches to the general public.

Requests for patches will only be honored for law enforcement agencies and/or retirees that agree to use the patch for public or professional display. Public or professional display would include, as examples, secure patch boards for viewing in public access areas of another agency; or, professional displays wherein the patch is secured in a display in a designated law enforcement office or work space.

All requests for patches on behalf of an agency must be received on department letterhead signed by the requesting department’s Chief of Police or designee.

Patch requests from sworn law enforcement agencies within the United States can be submitted on official agency letterhead and mailed to:
