Kate McNeely
Bio
Kate McNeely is a PhD student and graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Sociology at the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä. In 2024, she joined the Natural Hazards Center as a graduate research assistant. Their research interests include disaster resilience, climate/environmental justice, social movements, grief and grieving, and community disaster response specifically within frontline communities of climate change. They hold a master's degree in public administration from The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and a B.A. in Psychology from Goucher College. Prior to joining the ²ÊÃñ±¦µä, Kate worked for The University of Michigan Institute for Social Research. They have over 15 years of experience within the field of social movement cultural organizing, climate activism, and nonprofit management.
