Volunteer Opportunities

AGSO is a huge advocate for the sciences within the Boulder community and surrounding area. By volunteering you not only boost your resume, but you have the chance to introduce students to aerospace while representing AGSO, the university and the department. Look out for opportunities in our newsletter as well.

If you would like AGSO to speak with your organization, students, etc., please contact us and we'd be happy to help!

The Integrated Teaching and Learning (ITL) Pre-College Engineering Education Program is an educational outreach program that works with K-12 students . By introducing students to engineering at a young age, they encourage the next generation of scientists to pursue meaningful careers in STEM fields. Email jennifer.l.taylor@colorado.edu if you'd like to volunteer or learn more at .

Earth Explorers is a educational outreach program that exposes underrepresented youth to the range opportunities they can pursue through STEM fields. Students are paired with a local scientist who teaches them about his/her work. The students interview their scientists and visit their laboratory to film a short documentary film with the help of a graduate student science mentor. The EE program runs during the fall and spring terms, and is always looking for volunteers to act as science mentors for the student groups. If you're interested in volunteering, learn more at or send an email to carolyn@earthexplorers.org.

CU-Boulder oversees general outreach to the community through the Volunteer Resource Center, found at volunteer.colorado.edu. They're heavily involved in flood relief and plan regular volunteer days for students to help clean up flood damage in the Boulder community. The Integrated Teaching and Learning (ITL) Program and the BOLD Center (Broadening Opportunity Through Leadership and Diversity) are two excellent resources available through the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Both programs host regular volunteer events and can connect you to a wide range of outreach and leadership resources. Visit either of their websites (, ) to learn more about the opportunities they offer.
