College Opportunity Fund (COF)

For undergraduate in-state students only, the Colorado State Legislature established a way to provide state tax dollar support for higher education at the undergraduate level called College Opportunity Fund (COF). Authorizing COF means that adding or dropping a class (while staying above full-time) will have a much smaller impact on tuition and fee adjustments. This means the VA would ask for less money back from a student that changes their schedule after the first day of term. While this stipend does not give students additional money, it does ease some potential financial burdens. We do suggest students authorize it as early as possible if they want to utilize the program. This is not an automatic process, students must elect this option through their Buff Portal account.

For student veterans receiving federal education benefits:

  • Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill)
  • Chapter 32 (VEAP)
  • Chapter 33 (Post 9/11)
  • Chapter 35 (Family Member’s Education Assistance)
  • Chapter 1606 (Reserve GI Bill)

it is highly encouraged that you apply for COF. This stipend saves the Veterans Administration funds in offsetting the cost of tuition at ²ÊÃñ±¦µä.
