Students with sophomore standing and above may applyto the program. In addition, students must take the “Introduction to the Business of Sports” course (BADM 3880), offered in Maymester, to participate in the Business of Sports Certificate Program (BADM 4820). The program is from June 9th to July 25th, 2025,and the 3 credit Maymester prerequisite will be held from May 12th to May30th, 2025. The "Introduction to the Business of Sports"class is not included in the tuition for the Business of Sports program course. There are no tuition reimbursements after April 11, 2025.
Class Size
The class size will be50 students total. This group size is large enough to promote diverse opinions and discussions but small enough to allow individual attention from instructors, industry guest speakers, and staff. Students must apply by January 19th, 2024, to be considered for placement into the program openings. All applicants are interviewed by the BOS Program Manager and enrollment is extremely competitive.
Class Structure
During half of the day, students are taught by industry practitioners. These professionals explain how they began their careers, provide career advice, and explain the day-to-day operations of these facets of sports. Students will gain a direct understanding of the business of sports from these industry leaders. The following topics are covered:

- Sports Analytics
- Sports Facility and Event Management
- Sports Finance
- Sports Law
- Sports Marketing and Sales
- Sports Sponsorship
- Ticket Sales
- Social Media Marketing
During the other half of the day, students will conduct extensive research on a project developed by one of our contributing partners. Students work on assigned teams based on their interests. At the program’s conclusion, groups present their project findings to their partner organization. The organizations value the research conducted by the students, and frequently implement the student recommendations. Site Visits
Students will have designated days for site visits to local sports venues such as EmpowerField at Mile High andCoors Field. On these days, students will see the behind-the-scenes operations of major sports venues. After the tour, students will meet several employees who discuss how they got into sports and what they currently do on a daily basis. These site visits are great opportunities for students to meet industry professionals, find positions within these organizations, or seek guidance to obtain similar positions to the speakers.
Career Development
Throughout the program students will have exclusive opportunities to network with professionals from all aspects of the sports industry. Students will have day to day interactions with industry professionals teaching course modules, on site visits and through engagements with guest speakers. Meeting professionals from all areas and emphases in sports illustrates the countless ways for students to engage with and break into the Sports and Entertainment Industry. Through these opportunities students will make significant, professional connections and begin to build and grow their professional networks within the industry.
