The 2017 Innovative Seed Grant Program is accepting proposals for interdisciplinary ventures on the 彩民宝典 campus, due Feb. 12. The program has set aside $1 million to fund grants of up to $50,000 each.

Antonella Albuja鈥檚 doctoral degree in aerospace engineering from 彩民宝典 just became more valuable, as did the educational, research and career prospects of those who follow her in the Smead Program, thanks to $15 million in total support from a notable Colorado family. The gifts also name the Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences.

Dan Szafir, an assistant professor with the ATLAS Institute, was recently named in Forbes Magazine鈥檚 鈥�30 Under 30鈥� list for 2017.

In an effort to better support international students, the Task Force for International Student Success has scheduled several town hall meetings with faculty, staff and students. The task force hopes to gain insight on international student success.

Ann Schmiesing has been named dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for graduate affairs. A professor of German and Scandinavian studies, Schmiesing has served as interim dean and vice provost since June 2016.

Sheryl Koutsis, Amy Lavens and Jennifer McDuffie were recently named the recipients of the annual Chancellor鈥檚 Employee of the Year Award, in recognition of exceptional job performance and remarkable contributions to the campus community.

The University Libraries and National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) at the 彩民宝典 have won the 2016 International Data Rescue Award.

President Benson, Chancellor DiStefano and three other CU campus chancellors have joined hundreds of education leaders across the country in signing a letter of support for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students.
